As we explore the religious, historical, and cultural terrain of these sacred writings, we will need a good map. Stephen Harris' Understanding the Bible will serve as a comprehensive resource describing traditional and contemporary analyses of the Bible's compositional elements. We will also need a good "lens" to examine what we find. Marcus Borg's Reading the Bible Again For The First Time will help us limit the scope - and help determine the perspective that each of us brings to this 'introduction to the Bible'...
