teaching.
A member of Eckerd's Letters Collegium, Prof. Lopez teaches courses in biblical studies that emphasize the relationship between ancient and modern worlds, methodology in biblical interpretation, and the continuing relevance of the Bible as a significant site for articulations of power relationships, community identity-construction, and meaning-making. Her courses frequently explore readings at the intersections of contemporary politics of identity, structures of (in)justice, and ancient (non-)biblical texts, as well as representations of religions and ancient worlds in (post)modern media. A 2007-08 Fellow in the Wabash Center for Teaching and Learning in Theology and Religion’s Workshop for Pre-Tenure Faculty, Prof. Lopez is interested in pedagogical innovation towards critical thinking about religion as well as religious literacy in our global context. She also enthusiastically supports Eckerd’s general education program. View current course information here.
