Do things have to be posted multiple times for different section?
No, you don't have to post things several times. The newer version of Moodle uses the "file picker" program when you want to post a file. When that page appears, one of the options on the left is to select a "Recent file." If you have already posted the file once, you can find it here and post it again. This saves you time and trouble and decreases the space that your materials take up on the Eckerd servers.
If the same material is being posted for different sections of the same course you may want to consider using a meta-course. This collects all the different sections into the same course. This option is described in the wiki below.
If you don't like either of these options, you can post (FTP) the files to the academics server and then put links into each course that allow students easily to access the material.
